Three's a Crowd

The Rockets have acquired 19 year-old goaltender Mark Guggenberger from the Swift Current Broncos for a 5th round pick in 2010 as per the Broncos website. That leaves the Rockets with three goaltenders, Guggenberger, Adam Brown and Kris Lazaruk.
Guggenberger is an American born player, giving the Rockets 7 players born South of the border.
Oddly enough, Guggenberger turns 20 today Happy B-day..

Swift Current fans are pissed about this one.

Guggenberger was their best goaltender, but Yonkman has been with the Broncos his entire Junior career. Swift Current showed some class by keeping Yonkman, but hurt themselves for giving away their top goalie for close to nothing. (Jung-like resemblance)

I'm hoping to see another trade go down, with Lazaruk involved. I can't see Guggenberger wanting to be in another three way battle, or Hamilton wanting to slow Brown's development down.

Good trade for Guggenburger.
While Browns record is currently good on paper, it is not indicative of his ability. The rockets have a real issue here.

So when Luongo makes a big save for the Canucks, the DJ in Vancouver plays "Louie Louie".

"Burger Man" by ZZ Top, anyone?

In other news, Paradis has been traded to Moose Jaw for Ian Duval.

Hold on a second.

I just realised the Rockets are packing four 20 year olds at this very second:

Lazaruk, Duval, Grantham and Dowzak are all overagers.

Definitely another trade on the way.

They released laz from what i heard

No more trades allowed. Waiver and release time...one Euro, one overage.....

They are still announcing trades, though. Details always come in late. Sometimes it takes hours for the NHL to announce some of the trades.

I wouldn't doubt if there were 0 takers for Lazaruk, though.

I'm on the phone with Bruce Hamilton to get the final details.

Ome onnnn Why isn't Backlund on the Rosterrrr

StolzHockey said...

He was assigned to Kelowna, then they instantly recalled him.

That's why he's not on the roster.

I don't think the Swedes are in any rush to release him (for whatever reason), plus Sutter has a use for him right now. I'm worried too.

These look like a couple of quality players from Swift Current. Anybody have any comments on them?
