Just got off the phone with Rockets GM Bruce Hamilton.
The acquisition of overage forward Ian Duval from the Moose Jaw Warriors this afternoon spelled the end of Kris Lazaruk's time in a Rockets uniform.
The Rockets three overage players are Duval, Dowzak and Grantham.
Some would suggest the Rockets acquisition of goaltender Mark Guggenberger spelled the end of Lazaruk, as the Rockets crease got extremely crowded.
Lazaruk will likely join a team in the AJHL.
Duval was picked up this afternoon from the Warriors for 17 year-old Jesse Paradis.
Duval started his WHL career with the Regina Pats, where he played 149 games, before being traded to Calgary where he played 125 games. Last season he scored 22 goals with the Hitmen before being traded to Moose Jaw this summer. This season Duval had 31 points in 31 games with the Warriors.
An interview with Hamilton can be heard on AM-1150 at 6:30 tonight.
Note: Mikael Backlund is not in Kelowna. He remains in Calgary. Look for the Rockets to make an announcement tomorrow or Monday. The picture should become clearer once Todd Bertuzzi returns to the Flames lineup. If he doesn't return shortly, Backlund may play Tuesday night when the Flames face St Louis.

Excellent. /Mr. Burns
I think it's pretty much Official that hes not coming as the rosters are now frozen....
No so Jared. Keep the faith.
Backlund is Kelowna Rocket property.
The trade deadline simply means no more trades. Backlund can still come.
Ah! Awesome! Thats what I like to hear!
Obviously Laz had to be released to get us down to three twenties, but is Guggenberger actually in town yet?
I'm usually not too excited to go see PG but this should be interesting.
Nope. The Rockets will go with a midget goaltender tonight as a back-up to Brown.
