Feeling fine after scoring nine

  • Curt Gogol wanted to make an impression in his first visit to Prospera Place against his old team. The Chilliwack Bruins defenceman made sure of that as he was ejected from the game to a series of boos after receiving an instigator penalty in a second period scrap with Rockets forward Mitchell Callahan. Gogol goaded Callahan into a fight while another scrap was going on between Rockets d-man Kevin Smith and Bruins forward Tim Traber. Gogol was kicked out of the game while Callahan watched his team score another power play goal from the penalty box in a lopsided 9-3 win.
  • In hindsight, Gogol should have engaged Callahan earlier in the game. By the time the fight took place, the hottest player in the Western Hockey League this week had already done his damage. Callahan had a goal and two assists in the first period.
  • The Bruins had the best power play heading into the game and the Rockets shut them down in five chances.
  • Geordie Wudrick scored three times in the win. His third goal was the 100th of his WHL career.
  • It was Wudrick's second career hat trick. Wudrick scored three times as a member of the Swift Current Broncos in a win over Moose Jaw October 9, 2009.
  • I guess hats are too expensive in Kelowna or the ritual is dead at Prospera Place. Wudrick scores his third goal of the game and not one fan threw a hat onto the ice.
  • While Wudrick was scoring his 100th, defenceman Mitchell Chapman was scoring his first career goal. Chapman's goal was his first in 72 regular season games.
  • When was the last time the Rockets scored 9 goals at home? It was in January of 2008 when the Rockets earned a 9-2 win over the Portland Winterhawks. Jamie Benn had 2+2=4 in that game.
  • Tyson Barrie collected a goal and two assists, extending his point streak to five games. Barrie has 2+9=11 over those five games.
  • The Rockets have scored 24 goals (6.00 per game) in their last four games. What's more impressive is the team has allowed just 10 goals (2.50 per game) against.

From what I saw on the web, this looked like a great game for the Rockets. Well done.

Reagan where is Zach Habscheid ? Hurt ?

I don't really like Barrie and Callahan, our two best players having to drop the gloves, even though we all knew Callahan wanted a piece of Gogol and can handle his own. All we need is for one of those two to break a hand on a helmet ( dumb rule). We need some a guy that can step up when the bell rings in the worst way. With guys like Randy McNaught, Curt Gogol in the BC division, not to forget Tayler Jordan among others in the US division we need someone who can protect guys like Barrie and McCoglen.

I sure saw why teams dont want a guy like Gogol on their team for more than half a season. His stupidity led directly to a change in flow to the game. It was still a tight game, with the Bruins battling back when Mr Selfish/Psycho Gogol took over. Loved Callahan not getting involved right away leading to an instigator by Mr Psycho. Sure he got a contract but is he really happy that teammates dont respect him and blame him for loses? Once a clown, always a clown.

I put down the D regularly but have to say Chapman and Smith really have stepped up. Wall stunk and Jobke was quite bad but the over 4, especially Barrie and Seversen really played good. Cant quite understand Jobke over Corbin but I'm not the GM either, so will leave it up to him since he makes the coaching decisions.

Hahahaha, Ryan your sitting behind a computer making remarks about a kid who just signed a contract with a National Hockey Team. Who are you to be judging a 19 year old who accomplished more in one day, then you have in your whole life. I am a huge fan of Curt Gogol, and was saddened when he ASKED for a trade out of Kelowna. Chilliwack just traded a very skilled forward for Gogol. Get your facts straight... your the clown. I sure hope players don't read this blog, its quite embarrassing what goes on here.
