Quick hits before a road trip to the Wack

  • Bruce Hamilton knows he has a solid coach in Ryan Huska. That's why he offered the 35 year-old father of three a three year contract extension through the 2013-2014 season. Like a good mortgage rate, you lock it up long term. Huska isn't going anywhere unless he moves to the pro ranks in the next three years, something I believe he will, before his new deal comes to an end. And to think hockey fans were calling for his head at the start of the season. Thank God Hamilton doesn't have an itchy finger.
  • That old gear that Adam Brown is wearing will have to stay. Nice, clean white pads sit idle in the Rockets dressing room as the 19 year-old goes with what has brought him success. Last years equipment is working just fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  • Adam Brown sits in fifth place in wins among Kelowna Rockets goaltenders. Brown has 61 victories in 111 appearances. Kelly Guard (83), Kevin Swanson (70), Kristofer Westblom (67) and Derek Yeomans (66) are ahead of him. Brown can easily move past Swanson, Westblom and Yeomans before the season is through. To surpass Guard, Brown would have to win 22 more games. If that happens, the Rockets would have no less than 37 wins this season, two more than the hockey club had one season ago.
  • Four of Mitchell Callahan`s 13 goals this season have come on the road. Callahan is three shy of 50 goals for his career.
  • Of Geordie Wudrick`s 12 goals this season, only three have come on the road. Two of those goals came in one game.
  • Brett Bulmer also has three road goals this season.
  • This may surprise you....it did me. Rookie Colton Sissons has scored four goals. All four have been on the road. Sissons and Callahan have scored the most road goals this season.
  • Think about this. A win tonight would see the Rockets move into a tie with Prince George for first place in the BC Division. The Cougars host Seattle tonight.
