Mitchell Callahan has done it.
The 19 year-old has earned a spot on the 22 man roster for the USA World Junior Team.
The Kelowna Rockets co-leader in points at the Christmas break will add some grit to an American team that is the defending tournament champions.
I received confirmation from Callahan on a quick e-mail this morning at 5:59 am.
Callahan isn't a morning person, but it was likely the best news he's received right out of bed.

From California: We couldn't be prouder. What a story of inspiration Mitchell is. A kid bypassed by all the California Select Teams and overlooked by many. A WHL walk on, WHL Championship, Drafted by Detroit, and now wearing his country's colors. This is the poster boy for all Californians who are told "you can't" make it. Heart and desire. Congrats Michell
Don't see Moffats name....maybe he should reconsider his hockey path and join the Rockets.
congrats Tyson we have enjoyed watching you for 4 yrs. also congrats to Cally hope you have a great wjs... team usa not so much ha ha.
Nice Story thanks. Our Josh Gorges from a few years back is the same thing. Never drafted, made the WHL, never drafted, made the San Hose Sharks and now plays for Montreal after being intially written off by the coach. Its an very inspriational story.
attaboy mitch now let the fun begins....
Considering how much Team USA frowns upon using CHL players and favors the US high school route, this is a HUGE accomplishment to crack this squad. HUGE Kudos to Mitch
* Congrats Mitchell* sp
Well Done Mitchell. All the best for a great World Jr.
