Jobke gets 7 games

Colton Jobke has been handed a seven game suspension by the WHL for a hit on Bruins forward Tim Traber Friday night.
Traber
broke his leg after he landed awkwardly after the hit.
Jobke has served two games.
He will return to the lineup Saturday February 26th against the Calgary Hitmen.
Jobke received the same number of games as Bruins d-man Brandon Manning for a hit seven days prior against the Kamloops Blazers that ended the season of Blazers Austin Madaisky.
Rockets defencemen Mitchell Chapman was suspended for 6 games in October for a kneeing incident.

I find myself asking the question Regan, why does Colton Jobke still have an A on his jersey if he is a repeat offender when it comes to suspensions and illegal play? I think you will be hard pressed to find anybody on any team with an A or a C who has been suspended multiple times in the same season. Colton needs to be leading by example and helping the young guys fit in with the league, and he apparently is incapable of providing the leadership needed on a team that has a plethera of rookies and young guns.

Yes I understand that Jobke didn't mean to injure Traber, but that doesn't change the fact that he still decided to make the hit.

Like Huska, I am all for defending Jobke's personality and the guy, but the hit he made was a disgrace to the game and he deserves all of the 7 games, if not more. The league has made an example of him to the other players around the league, now I think it's time that Huska and the coaches make an example of him for the franchise and anyone who wants to play with the Kelowna Rockets. They need to send the message that if you make stupid decisions on multiple occasions in one season you will face consequences with not only the league, but also the team.

In my opinion, the coaches need to strip Jobke of his Assistant Captain title and given to someone who is more deserving like Spencer Main, who I think is a prime candidate for Captain next season.

WOW, Jared, you really seem to be anti-Jobke! "Repeat offender when it comes to suspensions and illegal play" and "suspended multiple times in the same season" are pretty harsh considering the only other suspension he had was for 1 game for an elbowing infraction. Yes the hit on Fri unfortunately caused Traber to break his leg because of the way he landed, but it also looked like it caught Jobke a little off guard as he was spun around and fell. If you plan on hitting someone that hard you would brace yourself better than that. Jobke is not a dirty player and unfortunately things do happen to good people. Do you think he himself enjoyed being off with a knee injury twice and a separated shoulder, all of which were caused by other players hitting him? And none of those players got suspended. As I said, things happen in hockey that are often out of anyone's control. Lighten up!

I'm with you Adam. I don't consider Colton to be a dirty player but I do think it was a dirty hit. It is really unfortunate that it ended so poorly for Traber.

I almost feel guilty because I was thinking that Kelowna really needed to do something to counter all of the dirty head shots we had received from Bruins players over the past few games. I wasn't really thinking about going out and breaking a leg but you know what I mean...the head shots have been tough to watch. By the way, when is Mitchell coming back?

I don't remember Habscheid being such a goon coach when he was here with the rockets. Good coach? Definitely. Whiny, complainer, everything I don't want my 6 year old son to see in hockey coach? Definitely. Not sure why he is not in the Pro's yet? I have to question a man who goes out and gets players like Gogul and Bestland....kinda sets the tone for the team. I know Regan picked them to finish first in the BC division but with the undisciplined play, no wonder they are fighting for last. It must be hard for a kid like Jobke to see his team being pummeled with dirty head shots and not get fed up and make a stupid play himself.

Anyway enough about my dislike for the man, back to the hit. I'm sure Huska and staff had a had chat with the boy and a 7 game suspension will give him lots of time to think. He does need to clean his game up a tad but I don't think he needs to have the A removed, he is going to be a great leader for the team in the future.

Lets not forget about the kid with the broken leg. Best wishes to Tim Traber, hope you recover quickly.
