The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they have signed defenceman David Schulz from the Texas Wildcatters to a pro tryout contract.
Schulz, 22, has played in 28 games so far this season with the Wildcatters where he’s scored four goals and eight assists for 12 points and 24 penalty minutes. The Winkler, MB native also appeared in nine playoff games with the CHL’s Memphis Riverkings last year where he collected two penalty minutes. Schulz played five seasons and 302 career games in the WHL with the Swift Current Broncos, Saskatoon Blades, and Spokane Chiefs. In that time, he scored 23 goals and 71 assists for 94 points and 433 penalty minutes.
Schulz was originally drafted by the Canucks in the eighth round, 254th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
