Rockets Game Notes vs. Hurricanes

Tonight’s Preview: The Rockets face the Lethbridge Hurricanes for the second and final time this season. These two teams met December 7th in Lethbridge with the Hurricanes earning a 3-2 shootout win. The Rockets received a goal and an assist from Colin Long and Jamie Benn, while Torrie Jung made 26 saves in the setback. The Rockets were 0/5 on the power play while the Hurricanes were 0/7 with the extra man. In the Hurricanes last stop at Prospera Place back on February 23/07, Kyle Bailey had three assists in a 5-3 win. The Rockets are just 5-5-0-0 against the Hurricanes in their last 10 visits to Kelowna. The Rockets last shutout the Hurricanes at home on December 30/04 as Derek Yeomans made 20 saves in a 2-0 win. The most lopsided victory for the Rockets against the Hurricanes at Prospera Place was an 8-0 drubbing back on October 11/02. Following tonight’s game the Rockets are in Chilliwack tomorrow night before traveling to Kamloops next Friday.

A January to Remember: The Rockets ended the month of January 10-2-0-1 in 13 games. It was the best January in Kelowna Rockets franchise history. Last season the Rockets were just 3-8-2-0 in January. The Rockets were a surprising 6-4-0-1 in January in 2005-2006, and were 8-2-1-0 in 2004-2005. The Rockets were 8-4-1-0 in January of the 2003-2004 season.

Home Cooking: The Rockets are riding a season high 8 game home ice winning streak. The Rockets had an 11 game home ice winning streak during the 2005-2006 season from November 9th to January 7th. The Rockets also had an 11 game home ice winning streak from December 8/04 to February 2/05. The greatest home ice success this franchise has ever had was a 28 game unbeaten streak during the 2004-2005 campaign.
