A two vehicle collision that claimed several lives on Highway 1 near Hope closed the highway for over an hour and a half as we made our way home from Chilliwack. We encountered the crash at around midnight.
In talking to RCMP officers on the scene, it appeared a vehicle heading east was driving in the wrong lane, colliding head on with a vehicle heading west. If you know that stretch of highway well, you will remember that a concrete meridian/barrier separates the four lanes, meaning the offending vehicle was literally heading into on-coming traffic.
It wasn't a pretty scene, trust me.
Because of the late arrival back to Kelowna, safely thank you, I won't file any thoughts until later this morning.
