Three game winning streak snapped

• Two goal posts and a cross bar didn't deter the Spokane Chiefs Tuesday night. The Chiefs scored three-second period goals and used five different goal scorers in a 5-2 win over the Kelowna Rockets. The loss snapped the Rockets three game winning streak and keeps them just two points up on Kamloops for 6th place in the Western Conference.
• The prettiest goal came from Spokane's leading scorer Mitch Wahl. Wahl dangerously takes the puck in front of his own goal, avoids one Rocket and skates the length of the ice, putting the puck between the legs of a Rockets defenceman before dishing it off to Blake Gal for a tap in at the side of the net. That goal made it 3-1.
• The Rockets had a great chance to tie the game at two after Spokane forward Kyle Beach is assessed a double minor. With the extended four minute power play, the Rockets fail to score.
• Beach opens the scoring with his 52nd of the season. The goal is courtesy of a giveaway just outside the Rockets blue line. Beach has a clear lane towards goaltender Mark Guggenberger, but instead of skating in and possibly deking, Beach takes two strides inside the blue line and beats the 21 year-old with a quick snap shot to the blocker side. 1-0 Spokane.
• Shane McColgan scores his 25th goal of the season on an original slap shot from Antoine Corbin. It's McColgan's first goal in eight games. Brandon McMillan also scores in the third period to extend his point streak to eight games.
• Adam Brown receives a relief appearance in the third period. Brown allows one goal on 13 shots.
• At the end of the game, two of the Rockets best d-men taking a beating in the +/-. Tyson Barrie is an uncharacteristic -4 while Dallas Jackson is a -3. Oddly enough it is Barrie's 200th WHL game.
• Rockets GM Bruce Hamilton was honoured before the game for his involvement as a player with the 1980 Spokane Flyers. Hamilton was a player with Flyers team that won an Allan Cup in 1980. Hamilton was on the ice with Chiefs owner Bobby Brett and Spokane GM Tim Speltz for an ceremonial face-off.
• The Rockets end the season with a record of 5-15-0-1 against U.S Division teams.
