Rockets game notes vs. Chiefs

Tonight’s Preview: The Rockets are back on home ice for the first time since February 19th. The Rockets have returned from a five game road trip, which saw the team put on just over 39 hundred kilometers. Over that road trip the Rockets were 1-3-0-1, with the only win coming in a 4-0 victory in Edmonton Friday night. Now with six games left in the regular season, four of those six games will be played on home ice. Tonight the Rockets open a three game home stand with a date against the Spokane Chiefs. It is the third of four meetings between the two teams this season. The Rockets are 0-2-0-0, having lost 4-3 (Oct 30th) and 1-0 (Nov 15). The seasonal series concludes March 9th in Spokane. Overall the Rockets have just one regulation win in their last seven games (1-4-0-2), having been out-scored 19-14 over that period. Despite that dismal statistic, the Rockets have points in 14 of their last 19 games (12-5-0-2). The Rockets have only been out-shot four times in their last 18 games.

Fire power problems in February: It was a rough month for the Rockets when it came to scoring goals. The Rockets scored just 28 goals in 12 games in February (2.33). The Rockets have scored just 11 goals in the last six games (1.83). The reason? The Rockets power play is 1 for 30 in the last six games (3%). The team has just one power play goal in their last six games.

Who’s Hot – Who’s Not: Since returning from the WJHC, Brandon McMillan has 8+15=23 in 22 games…McMillan has 17 goals this season. When he scores the Rockets win 88% of the time. The Rockets have lost just twice when the 19 year-old scores...Adam Brown was superb in February. Brown started nine games, helping his team earn a point in six of them. Brown’s goals-against-average was 2.27, with an impressive .917 save percentage… Tyson Barrie has seven points (3+4=7) in his last twelve games….Brandon McMillan has 4+9=13 in his last twelve games and is riding a four game point streak (2+3=5)….McMillan now has 152 career assists….Barrie has 126 career assists….Adam Brown has started fifteen of the teams last nineteen games.…Adam Brown is 9-3-0-4 in his last sixteen starts…Shane McColgan has points in nine of his last fourteen (5+6=11)…Just eight of McColgan’s 24 goals this season have been scored on home ice…The Rockets have allowed just seven power play goals against in their last fifteen games…The win Friday in Edmonton was the team’s 30th.
