The Kelowna Rockets will face the Everett Silvertips in the opening round of the WHL playoffs. The Tri City Americans finished first in the Western Conference while Everett will finish in third place after a 3-2 loss tonight in Spokane.
It marks the third time these two teams have played each other in the post season. Previous playoff appearances included the semi finals in 2006, with the Tips winning in six games. The Tips also beat the Rockets in seven games in the Western Conference final in 2004.
Game one and two are tentatively scheduled for Everett this Friday and Saturday night.
These two teams met five times this season with the Rockets earning one win. That victory was a 6-2 win in Everett December 2nd. The Rockets were 1-4-0-0 against the Tips this season and were out-scored 21-14.
