It's Good To Be Home

He's one of the most popular players on the Rockets since he was acquired at the trade deadline. Mark Guggenberger received many words of encouragement when he met fans at Prospera Place this afternoon. I was asked many times about how 'Gugg' was doing after Sunday's loss, and I told them to chat with him directly and offer words of encouragement. Guggenberger was one of the main reasons why the Rockets will have a WHL championship banner raised to the rafters next season.
The Rockets received a hero's welcome once they arrived back in Kelowna this afternoon after a long day of travel from Rimouski. The Rockets may have come up short in winning the Memorial Cup, but the team are winners in the eyes of it's fans. Isn't that all that really matters?

It was nice to be involved as the m.c for the Rockets welcome back gathering in front of Prospera Place.
One of the many businesses on Harvey Avenue recognizing the Rockets accomplishments in 2008-2009.
The 737 jet that was chartered by the team. The Rockets left Rimouski at 11:20 am local time and arrived at 4 o'clock Kelowna time this afternoon.

Where are all the Rocket fans? Before Sunday's game, you couldn't shut them up on this website. Now they've dissapeared. I guess it's going to be a rough couple years, and I guess most will come back out when the Rocket's start winning again.

What a great show of class and support by the fans of Kelowna. I'm sure each one of those boys/men were touched by the show of support.

From this fan I would just like to say thanks to the Rockets for a great year. It's been a lot of fun to watch such a great group of young men come together as a team and find substantial success along the way.

Congratulations, and I look forward to the hanging of the championship banners.

the only thing thats going to be rough is the fact that the Blazers still suck and you will never get over it. Good luck next year haha KBF your such a loser you would open your annoying mouth after the Rockets lost in the final game.... Your just a bitter bitter little person, obsessed with a team who never stood a chance. Maybe all the Rockets fans were at Prospera in person congratulating the boys on an amazing season and post season instead of sitting on their computer all day obsessively blogging.

You kidding KBF?

Don't be a nitwit...Us in Kelowna work until 4:30-5:00PM unlike you folk from Kamloops, therefore more were un-able to make it......If they return at 7:30-8:00 guarentee you a few more hundred are there...

Adam's dad is Canadian. Newell Brown was born in Cronwall Ontario. Where do you see him participating at a Canadian camp though?

KFB, you should get your name on the season ticket list for the Rockets. The years of waiting will drive you crazy...Oh, wait, you're already crazy. Get a life or a girlfriend or both, moron.

Well now a couple days have passed and no one has stated the obvious question. Why in the world would Kelowna change the line up that beat the number one team in Canada, for the Memorial Cup? I can only guess as to why Huska did it, but bottom line it was a huge mistake and the team chemistry that served them so well getting there was simply absent. Unbelievable. Having said that winning the Dub title is special, congrats to the team, and the real test awaits next year to see what kind of coach Huska is when there is no Jamie Benn or Tyler Myers to work to death. So maybe KBF your team might win a game next year. For a team that got swept totally you are the noisiest.....

The Long mutton-chops and the Benn 'stache are hysterical.

As far as the question "where are the fans," maybe we're justing getting back from Quebec. I for one have not had internet access as I was in Rimouski for the tourney.

That's rubbish to think that the fans have vanished because the Rockets lost in the final of the CHL championship, and that maybe the fans will return when they start winning again. The Rockets just won both the West Conf and the WHL Championships, they knocked off several teams none of the pundits gave them a chance against, and they played in the last possible game of the season. That sure looks like success, and something to be proud of, to me.

The Rockets gave us one of the best seasons ever. Thank you so much to the team and players for bringing us so much excitment, and being something we can all be proud of.

See you next year Rockets when you defend both your Western Conference and WHL Championship titles.

Yes, it was a great run. The 2 best games I've ever seen were game 6 vs Vancouver and game 6 vs Calgary. Maybe it's due to my fading memory, but those games seemed more exciting than the Rockets memorial cup win a few years back.
