The Kelowna Rockets may have the week off from WHL action, but that doesn’t mean two members of the team won’t be involved in heavy level competition.
Rockets forward Jamie Benn and teammate Tyler Myers are off to Calgary Tuesday where they will bus in for games in Swift Current and Prince Albert Wednesday and Thursday as the Western Hockey League leg of the A-D-T Canada-Russia Challenge begins.
Benn and Myers were selected to play for the WHL after attending the Canadian World Junior teams summer evaluation camp in Calgary.
It’s believed these two games against the Russia’s is a springboard for an invite to the Canadian World Junior Teams main camp next month.
The last Rockets player to participate at the ADT Canada-Russia challenge was Luke Schenn, who won Gold for Canada at last years World Junior Hockey Championships.
The CHL is 3 and 1 against the Russia touring team in the 6 game cross Canada series.
