Do you recognize that face? Does he look vaguely familiar?
I'll admit he's changed since I last saw him. That's Zach Habscheid, the son of former Kelowna Rockets head coach Marc Habscheid. The 15 year-old defenseman is playing with the Swift Current Legionnaires of the Saskatchewan Midget Triple 'A' League. It's been a trying season for Habscheid and his team with only two wins on the season. I learned on Jon Keen's blog that the Legionnaires coach resigned after the 12 game mark, only making matters worse. How tough would it have to be for Marc Habscheid to see his son's team struggling on the ice? Here is a coach who is sitting in the stands with more qualifications than you can shake a stick at, likely dissecting the problems of the team but biting his tongue and keeping his nose out of the Legionnaires affairs.

Regan,
Sorry to contradict you here but Habby is actually listed as a "Consultant" with the team and has been behind the bench at times working with the coaching staff. It's a lot more "hands on" than "hands off". Sadly, not even Marc Habscheid could make a contender out of our local "AAA" midget team.
It just shows that Habby isn't a miracle worker. He is human...who would have thought?
