A Day Off in Pictures

It was a day off Monday for the Rockets, as they regroup from a one goal loss to Regina Sunday afternoon. Here is Rockets goaltender Torrie Jung at practice this morning at the Brandt Centre in Regina.

Rockets forward Kyle St. Denis looks on during practice. St-D isn't practicing with the team as he recovers from a concussion.

Rockets defensemen Riley McIntosh (left) and Kyle Verdino (right) work out on the bikes at Brandt Centre.

Here is a shot of the Regina Pats dressing room. Thanks to the Pats for allowing me to take a few pictures. I thought readers of this blog would like to see inside a dressing room with so much history. The franchise has been around for over 90 years.
This is Kirt Hill's stall in the Pats dressing room. Do you notice what appears to be a war helmet sitting on top of his elbow pads? Hill was likely awarded this by his teammates for his efforts Sunday in the Pats 4-3 win. Hill was named the games first star. I also found it neat that David and I had a chance to skate at the Brandt Centre prior to the Pats practice. Special thanks to the ice crew at the arena for allowing two washed up goaltenders a chance to fire a few pucks around.

If you are spending a day off in Regina, you have to stop by the home of the Saskatchewan Riders. I again twisted David's arm to drive by the home of the Grey Cup Champions. And yes, I managed to purchase a Grey Cup Champions t-shirt. My trip to Regina is now complete!

Another classic shot of a Rider great from the past. A huge picture of former quarterback Ron Lancaster is splashed on one side of Mosaic Stadium while a picture of Rider great George Reed is on the other side of the grand stand.
