Healthy Scratch Pays Off

Do you remember to the 4th game of the season when Rockets head coach Ryan Huska made last years leading scorer Cody Almond a health scratch against the Vancouver Giants? The Rockets were humbled 5-0 in the game, but the humiliation may have been worth it for the Rockets, and specifically Almond.
Since Almond was a health scratch, the third year forward has registered 3 goals and 10 assists. That's 13 points in the teams last 11 games. Almond's outburst led the Rockets offensively in the month of October. Colin Long was a close second with 12 points (4+8=12) in 11 games in October followed by Brandon McMillan who had 9 points in 11 games (3+6=9) during the month. Long led all performers with a +6, followed by McMillan at +5 and Almond had a +1 rating.

  • This is what you need to know about the Chilliwack Bruins heading into a home and home series with the Rockets this weekend. The Bruins have scored the most goals in the BC division (55).
  • The Bruins have lost just once in regulation time on the road this season in 6 games. Overall the Bruins are 10-4-0-1.
  • Last season the Bruins had just one regulation win in their first 11 games. Talk about a massive improvement from a year ago.
  • Mark Santorelli leads the Bruins in scoring, yet hasn't scored a goal in 7 games. He's bound to break out soon. Let's just hope it's not against the Rockets this weekend. Santorelli has a five game point streak heading into Friday's game with 13 assists. Not bad.
  • The Bruins have one, if not the best European forward in the WHL in Oscar Moller. Moller enters games this weekend on a five game goal scoring streak with 12 goals over that period. Moller had recorded a hattrick in three of his last five games. One word - incredible! The Rockets defensive core and goaltenders will be in for a HUGE challenge this weekend. Thank goodness Luke Schenn returns to the Rockets lineup after sitting out the last two games with a suspension.
