When I asked veteran forward Geordie Wudrick what his aspirations were in his final season of junior hockey, he quickly responded, "win the Memorial Cup".
Tall task?
Right mind set, if you ask me.
It should be the goal of any junior hockey player, specifically a 20 year-old who finds himself in his final season of junior eligibility.
Don't go out with a whimper...go out with a bang.
Wudrick still has much to prove in his fifth and final season in the WHL.
He can score, which his 27 goals in his 19 year-old season will attest, but now he must prove he can play the power forward game. He has to show he can gain body positioning and win the puck along the boards.
In recent memory a big body forward who won more battles than he lost was Jamie Benn. Not only would he separate the opposition from the puck, but he would create a scoring chance with that tenacious play.
With that type of determination, Wudrick too could have a career season.
Brady Leavold was a former Bronco who put up impressive totals as a overage player with the Rockets.
I can't see why Geordie Wudrick can't do the same.
