The WHL is a ticket driven league.
Commissioner Ron Robison made that perfectly clear today when he spoke to the media.
"In the event that we can't get to a certain spectator level that will allow our teams to operate, we will not be in a position to start play."
Robison says that 'spectator level' has to be at 50 percent capacity at a minimum.
The league plans to open the 2020-2021 season October 2nd.
"We might have a completely different looking schedule than we traditionally have. Would more divisional play be something we are considering? Absolutely.
The WHL will not be testing its players for COVID-19 unless health officials deem it necessary and they have not asked for player exemptions to cross the Canada/US border.
