The Kelowna Rockets players and staff were laughing it up Tuesday night while watching Canadian comedian Russell Peters perform at Prospera Place. Twenty-four hours later, you would have to excuse them for having a possible smirk on their faces after a 7-0 win over the visiting Vancouver Giants. Jordon Cooke made 28 saves for his first career shutout and Colton Sissons scored twice and added two assists as the Rockets won for the first time on home ice this season.
Despite the lopsided score, the Rockets generated just 12 shots on goal through 40 minutes. The five goal third period was the result of an early penalty kill followed by Bowey`s second goal of the game. The 17 year-old executed a nice back hand after a perfect pass from Filip Vasko. Vasko ended the game with a goal and an assist while head coach Ryan Huska called it Vasko`s best game in a Rockets uniform. Carter Rigby and Dylen McKinley also added two assists as the Rockets improved to 2-2-0-1. It also marked the first time since 2002 that the Rockets beat a team 7-0 on home ice. A decade ago, Kelly Guard made 15 saves in a 7-0 win over the visiting Tri City Americans.
